THIS IS ME.
DONNA S. VIEIRA
Travel has always been a huge part of who I am. From the moment I took my first flight from Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Victoria, B.C., at the age of 10, I was hooked. My passion for travel was a constant throughout my 25-year airline career as well as in my personal life and it remains so to this day.
Years of experience in advertising, promotions and communications in the airline and travel industry prepared me well for my career as editor and travel writer for DREAMSCAPES TRAVEL & LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE, a Canadian magazine distributed through the Globe & Mail to 100,000 high-income households across Canada. I also edited the annual TRAVEL GUIDE TO FLORIDA, sold in retail newsstands and bookstores throughout Canada and the USA as well as online.
My travels have taken me through Canada and the USA and to Western and Eastern European countries, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Central and South America, Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, Fiji, Southeast Asia, Kenya, Turkey, Egypt and Israel. And there are still so many more places to visit!
Over the years, discussion, curiosity, respect and sensitivity have helped me embrace a genuine empathy toward the people I meet. I am ever grateful for all the stories, dreams, wisdom and experiences with which they’ve entrusted me, and my ultimate goal is to share these treasured gifts with the utmost respect.
My husband (a chef) and I also own and operate Globetrotters B&B/Gallery in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. We love welcoming guests from around the world to our home. So when we are not off discovering the world, our B&B gives us the opportunity to pay forward all the kindness and hospitality we’ve experienced on our travels.
I am also a certified Empowerment Coach for Women and Astrologer and I love to apply both skills in my life coaching sessions. More information on this is found under Services. If, by any chance, you are interested in making a difference in the world and pursuing a career as an Empowerment Coach for Women through the S.W.A.T. Institute, learn more here.
Donna Vieira is a pleasure to work with! She is always thorough, always provides the information and the proper contacts I need to write the story, and always gives her writers the freedom to write in the styles in which they feel most comfortable. I’ve worked with Donna for many years now. And she’s always calm and steady in a crisis or on a deadline. And, of course, the bottom line…the magazines she produces are beautiful to look at and informative to read. Donna Viera is the best editor I’ve ever had!.
Unflappable leader. Fearless journalist. Travel oracle. From where I sit, Donna is a travel writer’s dream editor. She encourages creative freedom, provides technical language support and seamlessly manages issues arising. Working with her in both print and online media for more than two decades has secured my admiration, loyalty and gratitude.
Whether it is putting words to paper, editing or publishing, Donna Vieira is one of the best in the business. It has been a pleasure working with someone of such high caliber these past seven years.
Good travel reporters are those who spotlight the world’s cultures, landscapes and waterways for the express purpose of getting us to go, to learn and to revel in it all ourselves. Standout reporters, however, do all of that but they also connect personally and earn our trust with glimpses into their own humanity. A standout sense of humanity is exactly why the principal reporter, editor and creator of this website has built such an enormous following of viewers and readers over the years — and combined with her “travel bag” of practical tips and guidance, it is true that Donna Vieira just never fails to inspire long-time associates like me.
When it comes to her work as an editor in the world of travel publishing, Donna is every writer’s dream. I have worked under her stewardship at Dreamscapes magazine for more than a decade and she has provided clear guidance from start to finish of every project. Her vision is crystal clear and she is skilled at summarizing and projecting the needs of a specific assignment. It is this kind of attention to detail that helps make my job as a writer so much easier. As we worked through an assignment, Donna was always in touch about any changes needed. When Donna calls with an assignment, I breathe a sigh of relief because I know I’ll be working with someone who respects my work as a writer and contributor to her publication.
Donna has been my editor at Dreamscapes for more than 15 years, and it’s always a pleasure working with her—she is so professional and upbeat. She is deeply knowledgeable about the travel industry and takes real joy in sharing beautiful destinations with readers. Donna also takes freelancers’ hectic schedules into account when assigning, which I really appreciate!
